### American Airlines Cuts Long-Haul Flights Due to Boeing 787 Dreamliner Delivery Delays

American Airlines recently announced that Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner delivery delays have forced them to make adjustments to their long-haul flight schedule. The airline will be receiving fewer Dreamliners than anticipated, resulting in the need to cut some routes in the second half of the year and early 2025. This decision comes as Boeing faces production issues due to parts shortages, impacting the production of the wide-body planes.
In a statement, American Airlines stated, “We’re making these adjustments now to ensure we’re able to re-accommodate customers on affected flights. We’ll be proactively reaching out to impacted customers to offer alternate travel arrangements.”
As a result of these delivery delays, American Airlines will be suspending several routes to Europe, including flights from New York to Athens and Barcelona. Additionally, flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International to Dublin and Rome will be temporarily suspended, with plans to resume next year. The airline will also be making changes to its daily flight schedules between certain destinations.
In light of these adjustments, American Airlines remains committed to providing a comprehensive global network for its customers. The airline will continue to offer 55 long-haul international routes this winter, with plans to introduce new services between Philadelphia and Barcelona, Miami and Montevideo, Uruguay, as well as Miami and Sao Paulo.
It is important to note that American Airlines is closely monitoring the situation, as delays in Boeing’s 737 Max production may also impact their schedule in the future. Boeing has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the matter.
