Analysts’ Take on Google’s Offensive Stance Post-Earnings

Introducing Alphabet – more than just Google: A new major AI play

At Extreme Investor Network, we are keeping a close eye on Alphabet’s latest quarterly release and the exciting news it brings for investors. Analysts and investors are breathing a sigh of relief as the results ease concerns around the company’s progress on artificial intelligence and the state of Big Tech after a broad-sector sell-off. The Google parent reported first-quarter earnings that beat expectations and announced its first-ever dividend and a $70 billion buyback, sending shares soaring to an all-time high.

What sets Alphabet apart from its competitors is its accelerated growth in Google Search, Cloud, and YouTube. Some analysts believe Alphabet is becoming a major AI player with plenty of room to grow. JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth even hiked his price target, citing the tech giant’s strong top-line growth and cost restructuring efforts to support its AI ambitions. He sees Alphabet increasing its spending to around $50 billion this year, aligning with its peers in the AI race.

Barclays analyst Ross Sandler shares a bullish view of the stock, highlighting Google’s accelerated growth and expanding margins. Jefferies’ Brent Thill also maintains a buy rating, citing Google’s attractive valuation and acceleration in core ad and cloud revenues. And Oppenheimer’s Jason Helfstein believes Google’s accelerating ad business will drive operating leverage, despite significant AI investments.

While many analysts are optimistic about Alphabet’s future, some express near-term concerns. Bank of America analyst Justin Post believes the company is well-positioned for the long term, but cautions that future growth may be challenging. UBS analyst Ken Gawrelski also maintains a partly cautious stance on the stock, noting uncertainties around AI driving a new product cycle and potential advertiser demand slowdowns.
