Starting off in Asia, we saw a mixed day in the major stock markets. While the Shanghai index increased by 1.17% and the ASX 200 saw a 0.56% rise, the SENSEX and Nifty50 in India experienced a decrease. The currency markets also showed mixed results with movements in AUDUSD, NZDUSD, USDJPY, and USDCNY.
In Europe/EMEA, the major stock markets had a mixed day as well, with the CAC 40 and DAX 30 decreasing while the FTSE 100 increased slightly. In terms of currency markets, we observed movements in EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDCHF.
Now, turning to the US/Americas, the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all declined while the Russell 2000 advanced. In Canada, the TSX Composite and TSX 60 both saw slight gains, while the Bovespa in Brazil had a significant increase.
In the energy sector, the oil markets experienced a green day with increases in Crude Oil, Brent, Natural Gas, Gasoline, and Heating oil. We also noted the top commodity gainers and losers for the day.
Lastly, in the bond market, we saw movements in various countries’ bond yields including Japan, US, Bunds, France, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and UK Gilts.
