Synthesia, Nvidia-supported startup, reveals AI avatars capable of expressing human emotions

Are you ready to revolutionize your video production process? U.K. tech startup Synthesia has unveiled a groundbreaking new range of AI-generated avatars that can convey human emotions like happiness, sadness, and frustration. These “Expressive Avatars” are set to change the game by eliminating the need for cameras, microphones, actors, and lengthy edits in professional video production.

Synthesia’s technology has already been adopted by over 55,000 businesses, including half of the Fortune 100 companies, to create digital avatars for corporate presentations and training videos. Using text inputs, these avatars can bring scripts to life in a way that blurs the lines between the virtual world and real characters.

Founded in 2017, Synthesia made waves last year by raising $90 million from investors at a valuation of around $1 billion, solidifying its status as one of Britain’s most recent AI “unicorn” firms. Investors such as Nvidia, Accel, Kleiner Perkins, GV, FirstMark Capital, and MMC are all on board with Synthesia’s innovative approach to video production.

While the technology behind these AI avatars is impressive, there have been concerns about its potential misuse for creating fake news content. To address these issues, Synthesia requires publishers to sign up as enterprise customers and undergo a thorough “Know Your Customer” process similar to that used by the banking industry. With these measures in place, Synthesia is committed to preventing any misuse of its platform.

As we move closer to global elections, Synthesia is taking proactive steps to ensure its technology is not exploited by hostile actors seeking to manipulate the outcome of various votes. The company is also a member of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, an organization dedicated to implementing content credentials and digital “watermarking” to distinguish AI-generated content from human-created content.

At Extreme Investor Network, we are excited to see how Synthesia’s AI avatars will shape the future of video production and storytelling.
