Quarterly Earnings Report for Coca-Cola (KO) in Q2 2024

Coca-Cola Raises Full-Year Outlook as Demand for Drinks Increases

Coca-Cola recently announced an increase in its full-year outlook due to a rise in global demand for its beverages in the second quarter. This news has investors buzzing as the company now expects organic revenue growth of 9% to 10%, up from its previous forecast of 8% to 9%. Additionally, Coca-Cola raised its outlook for comparable earnings growth to a range of 5% to 6% from a previous range of 4% to 5%.

The market reacted positively to this news, with shares of the company rising about 1% in premarket trading. Coca-Cola’s second-quarter results also exceeded Wall Street’s expectations, with earnings per share coming in at 84 cents adjusted versus 81 cents expected, and revenue reaching $12.36 billion versus $11.76 billion expected.

Despite reporting a slight decrease in net income attributable to shareholders compared to the previous year, Coca-Cola’s net sales saw an increase of 3% to $12.36 billion. The company’s organic revenue, which excludes acquisitions, divestitures, and foreign currency, climbed an impressive 15% in the quarter.

While Coca-Cola saw growth in its international markets, particularly in the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, its North American volume fell 1% for the quarter. This decline was attributed to decreased demand for water, sports, coffee, tea, and soda brands, offsetting growth in juice, dairy, and plant-based beverages.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, Coca-Cola anticipates that foreign currency will continue to impact its results negatively. The company is forecasting a 4% currency headwind to its comparable net sales and an 8% currency headwind to its comparable earnings per share.
