In Asia, we saw a mixed day in the stock markets. The NIKKEI 225 in Japan increased by 0.96%, while the Shanghai index decreased by -0.61%. The Hang Seng in Hong Kong also saw a decline of -1.55%. The ASX 200 in Australia and the SENSEX and Nifty50 in India also experienced losses.
Looking at currency markets in Asia, we observed a mix of movements. The AUDUSD and NZDUSD both saw increases, while the USDJPY and USDCNY decreased slightly.
In Europe, stock markets had a negative day with the CAC 40, FTSE 100, and DAX 30 all declining. Currency markets in Europe, however, had a mixed day with the EURUSD increasing and the GBPUSD and USDCHF decreasing.
Moving on to the Americas, the US markets saw declines with the Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 all closing in the red. In Canada, both the TSX Composite and TSX 60 declined, while the Bovespa in Brazil also saw a slight decrease.
In the energy sector, oil markets had a mixed day with both Crude Oil and Brent seeing increases, while Natural Gas decreased. Top commodity gainers included Crude Oil, Cocoa, Heating Oil, and Orange Juice, while top commodity losers were Rice, Platinum, Palladium, and Milk.
Lastly, in the bond market, we observed movements in yields for various countries including Japan, the US, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and the UK.
