Disney Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” Breaks Box Office Records
Disney Pixar’s latest animated film, “Inside Out 2,” has officially become the highest-grossing animated feature of all time, surpassing $1.46 billion in global ticket sales. This milestone achievement comes as a significant win for Disney, especially in light of recent box office challenges faced by the company.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Pixar, in particular, struggled to find success at the box office. The decision to release some animated features directly on Disney+ instead of in theaters impacted the performance of these films. Prior to the success of “Inside Out 2,” no Disney animated feature from Pixar or Walt Disney Animation had generated more than $480 million globally since 2019.
Interestingly, Disney’s 2019 remake of “The Lion King,” which the company categorizes as a live-action film, actually collected over $1.6 billion at the box office. Despite being primarily computer-animated, Disney’s classification of the film as live-action is acknowledged by box office analysts.
Looking ahead, the success of “Inside Out 2” is a positive sign for Disney and Pixar, showing that there is still a strong demand for animated films on the big screen. With the film set to open in Japan soon, there is potential for even further box office growth.
