Chipotle discontinues Farmesa Fresh Eatery spinoff following closure of ghost kitchen

Introducing the Chipotle Farmesa Fresh Eatery, launched first at Kitchen United’s upcoming Santa Monica location

We are excited to share the news that Chipotle Mexican Grill is launching a new concept, Farmesa Fresh Eatery, at Kitchen United’s upcoming Santa Monica location. This spinoff concept was originally introduced over a year ago at Kitchen United’s Santa Monica location, focusing on customizable bowls with a farm-to-table approach.

However, due to the closure of Kitchen United’s ghost kitchens, Chipotle has decided to abandon the standalone Farmesa Fresh Eatery concept. Despite this, the brand will continue to live on in Chipotle’s innovation lab for future menu items.

Chipotle’s CEO, Brian Niccol, emphasized the company’s primary focus on its core brand, both domestically and internationally. The company has been working on enhancing restaurant efficiency and speed to drive sales growth, which was evident in their first-quarter earnings beating Wall Street’s estimates.

The closure of Kitchen United’s ghost kitchens reflects the changing landscape of the food industry, with many establishments pivoting to adapt to new trends and technologies. In March, SBE founder Sam Nazarian acquired Kitchen United’s remaining locations to create a new company, Everybody Eats.
