At Extreme Investor Network, we strive to provide unique and valuable insights into various economic topics. Today, we will discuss a tragic event that occurred in Poland in 1923 during a period of economic crisis and hyperinflation.
During this time, unemployment was rampant, and the economy was in turmoil. Marianna Dolinska, a 32-year-old mother of four, was left without support when her husband was arrested. Desperate and facing starvation, Marianna made the heartbreaking decision to hang all four of her children with the same rope in the woods near Antoniowka.
This horrific act became one of the most high-profile criminal cases in the Second Polish Republic. However, the photograph depicting this tragedy was later misused on the cover of a book about crimes committed by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The book, titled “Ludobojstwo UPA na Ludnosci Polskiej,” falsely attributed the crime to the UPA, which was not involved in this incident.
It is important to note that the events in 1923 were not related to the Massacre of Poles in Volhynia, which occurred in the 1940s and resulted in the deaths of thousands of Polish civilians at the hands of the UPA. This misuse of the photograph highlights the importance of accurate historical context and the dangers of misinformation.
