Market Update – September 11, 2024

Today, let’s dive into the latest updates on the global markets.

In Asia, major stock markets experienced a negative day with the NIKKEI 225, Shanghai, Hang Seng, ASX 200, SENSEX, and Nifty50 all showing a decline. The currency markets in Asia also had a mixed day, with AUDUSD, NZDUSD, USDJPY, and USDCNY displaying varying trends.

Moving over to Europe and EMEA, the stock markets showed a mix of ups and downs. While the CAC 40 and FTSE 100 decreased, the DAX 30 saw an increase. In the currency markets, EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDCHF exhibited different movements.

In the US, the Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 all ended the day on a positive note. Canada’s markets also performed well, with the TSX Composite and TSX 60 both advancing. In Brazil, the Bovespa saw gains as well.

In the energy sector, the oil markets had a green day, with Crude Oil, Brent, Natural gas, Gasoline, and Heating oil all showing increases. Top commodity gainers included Crude Oil, Cocoa, Zinc, and Palladium, while top commodity losers were Orange Juice, Methanol, Cheese, and Corn.

Lastly, let’s take a look at the bond market. The latest data shows movement in various bond yields including Japan, US 2’s, US 10’s, US 30’s, Bunds, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and UK Gilts.
