Outgoing school President Laura Sparks expressed gratitude to generous alumni donors for removing a major financial burden for graduating classes. Current seniors will receive refunds for fall semester tuition payments and will not have to pay for the spring semester. Additionally, first-, second-, and third-year students will receive full-tuition scholarships in their senior years.
The decision by Cooper Union echoes a larger trend in the higher education landscape, where colleges and universities are facing challenges with declining enrollment and revenue. As the cost of college continues to rise, many institutions are exploring ways to make education more accessible.
