Last week’s car recalls: BMW, Chrysler, Toyota included in 142K vehicles – Find out more here

If you’re driving a Chrysler, Toyota, or BMW, you might want to pay close attention to recent recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). These recalls affect over 100,000 vehicles, each presenting unique safety hazards that could put drivers and passengers at risk.

Chrysler is recalling 2,852 of its 2023 Dodge Challenger vehicles due to a seat locking issue. According to the NHTSA report, the left rear seat back may not lock in the upright position, posing a risk of injury in the event of a crash. To address this, dealers will inspect and adjust the seat back latch striker at no cost to owners. If you own one of the affected vehicles, be on the lookout for recall notification letters expected by August 15th.

On the Toyota front, Gulf States Toyota is recalling 33,848 vehicles equipped with GST accessories due to an incorrect weight capacity label. The distributor has stated that the load carrying capacity modification label may display inaccurate weight values, potentially leading to overloading and an increased crash risk. Owners can expect to receive new labels in the mail by September 16th to rectify the issue.

BMW is recalling 105,588 vehicles, including models like the 2020 340Xi and 2019-2020 X5, for a starter motor issue that can cause overheating. The luxury car company warned that repeated attempts to start the vehicle can overload the starter motor, leading to a fire risk. BMW dealers will update the vehicle software to address this issue, with recall notification letters set to be sent out by September 23rd.
