The ETHICS Act – Stopping Insider Trading in Congress

As we navigate through the world of politics, it becomes increasingly apparent that our public servants have lost sight of who they serve – the American people. Insider trading in Congress has reached alarming levels, with lawmakers using classified information to line their own pockets at the expense of the public.

At Extreme Investor Network, we believe in holding our elected officials accountable and ensuring that their actions are transparent and ethical. The recent bipartisan push for the ETHICS Act (Ending Trading and Holdings in Congressional Stocks) is a step in the right direction towards curbing this abuse of power.

Under the proposed legislation, members of Congress, their spouses, and dependents would be prohibited from buying and selling stocks using privileged information. This act aims to restore integrity to our democracy and prevent lawmakers from profiting off information that the general public does not have access to.

The severity of insider trading was highlighted during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 72 lawmakers receiving donations from Big Pharma and investing heavily in the pharmaceutical sector before the public was aware of the crisis. This led to lawmakers making decisions that directly benefited their investments, rather than prioritizing the health and well-being of the nation.

Individuals like Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, have made millions through insider trading, underscoring the need for stricter regulations to prevent such abuses of power. The ETHICS Act would not only hold members of Congress accountable but also extend restrictions to their spouses and dependents to prevent circumvention of the law.

Senator Jeff Merkley’s call to action – “if you want to serve in Congress, don’t come here to serve your portfolio, come here to serve the people” resonates with us at Extreme Investor Network. It is time for our public servants to prioritize the needs of the American people over personal gain.

We urge our readers to support the ETHICS Act and demand accountability from those who are entrusted with representing our interests. Let’s restore integrity to our government and ensure that our elected officials work for the people, not their own financial interests. Join us in advocating for transparency and ethical behavior in Congress to build a stronger and more just society for all.
