Market Update – August 20, 2024

Asia:

Precious Metals:
Gold and silver prices saw modest increases during the trading day, with gold reaching $2,514.38 and silver at $29.513 per troy ounce.

Europe/EMEA:
In Europe, major stock markets like CAC 40, FTSE 100, and DAX 30 saw declines, while the EURUSD and GBPUSD currency pairs experienced slight gains.

US/Americas:
In the US, the Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 all closed in negative territory. Meanwhile, in Canada, the TSX Composite and TSX 60 also saw declines, while the Bovespa in Brazil posted gains.

Energy:
The oil markets had a mixed day, with both Crude Oil and Brent seeing slight declines, while Natural gas saw a more significant drop. Top commodity gainers included Cotton, Oat, Cocoa, and Aluminum, while top commodity losers were Cheese, Corn, Sugar, and Wheat.

Bonds:
Bond yields showed some movement, with Japan and US yields seeing slight increases, while Bunds, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and UK Gilts saw declines.
