Market Chatter – May 14th, 2024

In Asia, the major stock markets had a mixed day with the NIKKEI 225 and SENSEX showing increases while the Shanghai and ASX 200 experienced slight decreases. The currency markets in Asia saw a positive trend with the AUDUSD and NZDUSD showing gains.

Moving on to Europe/EMEA, the CAC 40 and FTSE 100 showed increases while the DAX 30 saw a decrease. The currency markets in Europe had a mixed day with the EURUSD and GBPUSD showing gains.

In the US/Americas, the Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 all advanced, showing positive market closings. The energy markets had a negative day with decreases in crude oil, Brent, natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil prices.

On the commodities front, we saw gains in Platinum, Copper, Oat, and Cocoa, while Titanium, Methanol, Cheese, and Cotton showed losses.

In terms of bonds, we saw movements in yields for various countries including Japan, US, Bunds, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and UK Gilts.
