Welcome to Extreme Investor Network, where we bring you the latest and most insightful business news. Today, we are excited to share with you the success story of Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” which has officially joined the billion-dollar club.

As of Sunday, “Inside Out 2” has grossed an impressive $1.014 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024 and the first film since “Barbie” to surpass the $1 billion mark at the global box office. This achievement has not gone unnoticed, with Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of the National Association of Theatre Owners, congratulating the film for its rapid success.

The billion-dollar milestone is a much-needed win for Disney’s Pixar animation studio, which has faced challenges at the box office due to the pandemic. Prior to “Inside Out 2,” Pixar had struggled to replicate its past box office successes, with no film generating more than $480 million since 2019.

“Inside Out 2” has not only highlighted the importance of the family audience at the box office but has also drawn in the elusive teen demographic, with 14% of foot traffic coming from those aged 13 to 17. This younger generation holds the key to the future of moviegoing, making their return to cinemas a top priority for studios and theater operators.
