A recall of Boar’s Head products has expanded to include a whopping 7 million additional pounds of deli and poultry items in a deadly multistate outbreak of listeria infections. This outbreak has affected 34 people across 13 states, with 33 hospitalizations and two tragic deaths. With such alarming numbers, it is crucial to be aware of the products involved and take necessary precautions.

Boar’s Head has issued a recall for 71 products produced from May 10 to July 29 under the Boar’s Head and Old Country Brand names. These products have “sell by” dates ranging from July 29 through Oct. 17 and were distributed nationwide, as well as to several other countries. The recall was initiated after a liverwurst sample collected by the Maryland Department of Health tested positive for listeria, prompting further testing and identification of the outbreak strain.

As a company that prioritizes safety and quality, Boar’s Head has decided to pause ready-to-eat operations at its Jarratt, Virginia, facility until further notice. This proactive approach is aimed at protecting consumers and preventing further health risks. It is recommended that individuals who have purchased the recalled products dispose of them or return them to the store, and clean out their refrigerators to prevent the spread of bacteria.
