August 1, 2024 Market Update: Discussions and Analysis

Welcome to Extreme Investor Network, where we bring you the latest updates on global markets and trends. Today, we will discuss the major movements in the Asian, European/EMEA, and US/Americas markets, along with updates on precious metals, energy, commodities, and bonds.

Let’s start with Asia, where we saw a mixed day in the major stock markets. The NIKKEI 225 decreased by 2.49%, while the ASX 200 and KOSPI saw minor gains. In the currency markets, the AUDUSD and USDJPY saw decreases, while the USDCNY saw an increase.

Moving on to Europe, the major stock markets had a negative day, with the CAC 40, FTSE 100, and DAX 30 all declining. In the currency markets, the EURUSD and GBPUSD also saw decreases.

In the US/Americas, the Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 all closed in the red, with notable declines. In Canada, the TSX Composite and TSX 60 also saw declines, while the Bovespa in Brazil closed slightly lower.

In the energy sector, the oil markets experienced a negative day, with both crude oil and Brent seeing decreases. Natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil also saw declines.

In the commodity markets, steel and wheat were among the top gainers, while copper, corn, cocoa, and natural gas were the top losers.

Lastly, in the bond markets, we saw various movements in yields across different countries, with Japan, the US, and European countries showing changes in their bond yields.
